Magazine Front Cover - Title Experimentation

For my magazine front cover, I have been experimenting with colour schemes to create a horror genre colour scheme that converts away from the stereotypical horror reds and blacks. This is green so it contrasts heavily against the green and personally I believe this to be effective, however I now need to work on taking my image and producing the sell lines for the magazine itself to broadcast and explore the content.

I stuck to the original elements that I had in my first draft, but after editing the image that I had taken and placing my titles as such on the image, I found that as a whole it works effectively with each other, with a blue overall colour scheme presented. It represents my trailer well as it links back to the psychological idea that no one truly knows who the threat is which is why it consists of a variety of hands throughout. On this poster, although it is rather dark I have strayed away from the idea of typical horror colour schemes consisting of black and red. I have opted for blues to challenge the conventions of the horror genre.

For my poster, I have experimented with the main image and using the jump scare at the ending as the main feature that is going to draw my target audience in to watching the trailer itself. Instead of taking a screenshot from my trailer I wanted to have the image taken in a higher resolution and quality, so this poster is overall going to be more controlled as I have looked at a variety of approaches when taking my image and not just sticking to the same pose. Lighting has also been another factor that I have had to consider in my imagery as I wanted to explore the effect that light has on the overall image itself, which is explored and shown in the photos above. Personally I am going to attempt to edit the 5th image further as the lighting and the placement works nicely with each other and I believe that this is therefore going to be easier to manipulate and edit to my intentions.
